Methodology

This questionnaire uses a psychometric scale as the primary measure and two research items as cross-checks. Scores are descriptive, not prescriptive.

  • Primary measure: Grable and Lytton 13-item Financial Risk Tolerance Scale.
  • Cross-checks: SCF single-item risk question and an income-gamble measure.
  • Risk tolerance is distinct from risk capacity and required risk.
